Alfredo Arreguín was born in 1935 in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. Since 1958 he has resided in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Arreguín received a B.A. and a M.F.A. degree from the University of Washington. He developed his distinctive style of intricate and dense compositions - sometimes called pattern painting or deep painting - early in his career. Often his works include calligraphically detailed flora and fauna, and also pre-Columbian or Mexican motifs. Alfredo Arreguín's work has been widely exhibited in the United States and abroad, and is included in many museum collections.
