End to End Trust is Microsoft’s vision for a safer, more trusted Internet that can only be achieved through broad cross industry collaboration and alignment. In the End to End Trust paper we outline three areas of focus needed to realize this vision: security and privacy fundamentals, technology innovations, as well as social, economic, political and IT alignment.
Building more secure, and privacy enhanced software and services by continuing our investments in implementing and sharing the Security Development Lifecycle and Privacy Guidelines for Developing Software Products and Services, providing effective Defense in Depth options, and enabling specific threat mitigation for customers.
Three key elements are needed to create greater trust on the Internet:
- A trusted stack with security rooted in hardware
- The ability to establish trust between systems

- In-person proofing and an identity metasystem
Technology innovations must be aligned with social, economic, political and IT forces to enable change. To that end we are working to engage in dialogue, collaboration and consensus-building with customers, partners, industry, governments and other important constituencies.
