Microsoft Corporation, 2010
Improved security features in the newest version of the Windows operating system, Windows 7, is key to
Microsoft's End to End Trust vision.
Every day, billions of people depend on Windows software. Customers want it to be
intuitive, efficient, and secure. When we developed Windows 7, we focused on delivering
greater customer satisfaction and protecting our customers from online threats.
Windows 7 includes new security features to help protect security and privacy and also makes
existing security features easier to use.
New and improved security features in Windows 7 that help people at home and at work
experience a safer, more trusted Internet:
- Internet Explorer 8—Helps protect against malicious software
(browser and Web server exploits) and helps protect privacy and sensitive information.
- User Account Control—A more streamlined approach to protect against viruses
and other malware, which means that users see fewer notifications.
- Windows Defender—Helps protect against spyware and other
unwanted software.
- BitLocker—Helps protect data on USB Flash Drives, USB Portable
Hard Drives and other storage devices.
- AppLocker—Helps specify which software is allowed to operate
on a computer in order to help keep malicious and unwanted code from operating.
Windows 7 includes multiple layers of protection to help address the increasing
risk and expense associated with information security and to help create a safer,
more trusted Internet.
