More Information and System Requirements
System Requirements
The minimum system requirements to use the book are similar to those for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003:
- 450 MHz PII-class processor (600 MHz PIII recommended)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, or Windows 2000 Professional or Server (SP3 or later)
- 160 MB RAM (Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Professional), 96 MB RAM (Windows 2000 Professional), or
192 MB RAM (Windows 2000 Server)
- 1 GB available hard disk space available on system drive; 3.3 GB required on installation drive; additional
1.9 GB available space required for optional MSDN Library documentation
The following software is required to run the applications included in the companion content:
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional, Enterprise Developer, or Enterprise Architect editions
(includes the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1)
- Microsoft Office XP (specifically, Microsoft Word 2002)
Installing the Sample Files
The download link opens an executable file containing a license agreement. To copy the sample files onto your hard disk,
click the link to run the executable and then accept the license agreement that is presented. Once the sample files
are decompressed, the setup program runs a short configuration routine. The routine configures the necessary
applications and virtual folders in Internet Information Services (IIS). By default, the sample files
will be copied to the folder C:\Microsoft Press\XMLWSOrg, and a virtual folder XMLWSOrg will be created.
The companion content also includes the installation routine for Microsoft Office XP Web Services Toolkit 2.
After installing the companion content, you will find the installation routine in the \Microsoft Office XP Web Services Toolkit 2
subfolder in C:\Microsoft Press\XMLWSOrg.
Uninstalling the Sample Files
To remove the sample files, make the appropriate selection from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
