More Information and System Requirements
System Requirements (excerpted from the book's Introduction)
The .NET Framework SDK, which includes ASP.NET, is required to run the sample
code. ASP.NET requires either Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows
XP Professional, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003. You can use Microsoft Windows
XP Home Edition for development, but Microsoft Internet Information
Services (IIS) is not available for that platform. An alternative is to use a development
Web server. The .NET Framework SDK can be downloaded for free
from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=8862.
Installing the Sample Files
The download link opens an InstallShield executable containing a license agreement. You'll need to accept the license agreement
before copying the files to your hard disk. By default, the sample files will be copied to the folder
C:\Microsoft Press\ASP.NET Coding Strategies, but you will be given an opportunity to change the destination folder
during the installation. A menu item "ASP.NET Coding Strategies" will be created under "Microsoft Press"
in your list of All Programs. Note: if you are using a system running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0,
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you will need
administrative privileges to install the sample files.
Uninstalling the Sample Files
To remove the sample files, make the appropriate selection from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
