Configuring your Development Environment
When developing using SharePoint, you have the option to develop locally or remotely. When developing locally, you either have Windows Server 2003 installed with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 up and running or you make use of Microsoft Virtual PC 2005/2007 with an image running a SharePoint installation. With the remote option, you configure your development environment with all of the necessary .NET assemblies (basically copy the DLLs to your local machine and deploy them in the global assembly cache), build projects locally, deploy them to a SharePoint server, and then test and debug this way. Note that developing locally is preferred in order to be productive and avoid potential problems with deploying code, testing, and debugging.
Installing the Code Samples
After you download the code samples file to your computer, run the installer and
follow the instructions that appear.
Uninstalling the Code Samples
To remove the code samples from your computer, make the appropriate selection from Add Or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
