Just as Microsoft Press was sending Programming Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0 to the printer, Microsoft modified Visual J++ 6.0 software to comply with an interim court ruling in the Sun Microsystems litigation with Microsoft. Version 6.0 now supports Sun Microsystems' Java Native Interface (JNI) as well as Microsoft J/Direct, and provides optional (rather than built-in) Microsoft extensions to the Java language. As a special online addendum to the book, author Randy Davis explains how to enable and disable Microsoft language extensions to Java, how to set up and use JNI with Visual J++, compares J/Direct with JNI, and demonstrates several sample solutions. You can download the article and code examples-and the Microsoft Word Viewer-by clicking Sample Files. |
