After reviewing its technology options, POWERGEN decided on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database software to leverage new features that made it easier to manage data, better utilize resources, and enhance information security.
Consultation with vendors confirmed that applications already being used by POWERGEN were supported on SQL server including Maximo.
More so, POWERGEN was already using other MS products so integration with
SQL Server was easy.
SQL Server 2008 now runs all of its mission-critical systems while lowering the cost of managing the data infrastructure and streamlining information sharing between its various front-end and back-end applications. |
