How Bing Maps can help you

I’m sure you will agree with me when I say that having people come to stay always involves a lot of organisation and planning. One of the main problems is showing people how to get around. It always seems to end up with me hastily scribbling on a map and trying to explain where everything is. I recently discovered how Bing Maps can save you a lot of time and help show your visitors around before they even leave the airport.

Create

Using your Live account login you can create and save a collection of locations. This is done by selecting “collections”, then clicking “new collections” and naming your list. You then search for your locations and select “add to my collection”. In my collection I added my home address, work address and all the tourist spots in Auckland popular for visitors. I also added notes to each location to explain what each location is and why it would be useful to our visitors.

Share

Share your map collections

You can then easily share your collection with your visitors by selecting “share” and then “send in email”. Your visitors can then start to navigate their way around their destination before they even get here!

Use

Bing Maps Auckland

  • Your guests can take virtual 3-D tours of where you live, work and the areas around which means they can get an idea of what it’s like where you are.
  • Using the “explore a place” function they can look at suggested places of interest in the area. Seeing somewhere before they arrive there means they can start to plan their itinerary and know it’s somewhere they definitely want to.
  • They can select different locations in your collection and see how to get from one place to another and how much time they should allow.
  • After they have searched your locations and other areas of interest they can then add their own destinations and add notes which you can then comment on and see where they are planning to go.
  • All of this information can be saved and printed and used to make their trip that bit more organised!
