Windows Media Center is available in Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate. If you run "Windows XP Media Center Edition", you'll have a previous version of Windows Media Center, which contains some but not all of the features available in the current Vista version.
Check which version of Windows you are running:
- View custom slide shows set to music.
- Watch DVDs and home movies.
- Browse your music collection by cover art.
- Organise photos and create albums.
- Record TV (if your pc has a tv tuner card).
- Watch, pause, and rewind live TV.
- Schedule and record TV shows and movies for later viewing.
- Access your music, pictures, and shows through your Xbox 360 or through an Extender.

- On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type: winver.
- Click OK. A dialog box displays the version that you have.
