November 2008 - UNPLUGGED MSDN Update – Double Sessions

Join us in November for an MSDN UNPLUGGED update. Come to two afternoon sessions to see next Generation Client Windows and Web, and Visual Studio Tips and Tricks to increase your productivity.

Session 1: Next Generation User Experiences - WPF 3.5 SP1

Windows Presentation Foundation is now becoming mainstream with real world applications being delivered using WPF to create engaging new user experiences as well as accelerate development times. Join John-Daniel Trask in exploring what WPF offers developers and end users as he demonstrates building line of business applications with WPF while highlighting the techniques and pattern you will need to understand to effectively use this fantastic technology. Finally, John-Daniel will discuss how SilverLight 2.0 fits into the user experience for modern web applications and what you need to understand to transition between these two platforms.

Session 2: Visual Studio Tips and Tricks - Increase your Productivity

Visual Studio 2008 is a great IDE for programming, and in each release new features have been added to increase your productivity as a software developer.

We will look at a lot of productivity enhancing features that will benefit any ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET or C++ developer, and you're guaranteed to learn something new. We'll cover keyboard shortcuts, new options, macros, IDE performance and more that will make you more productive. The entire session is hands-on inside the IDE and applicable to any language. John-Daniel Trask

John-Daniel Trask is the Founder and Director of Mindscape, Wellington-based software solutions provider. His core interests are software development and business and has been writing software since the age of 9. As a Microsoft Most Valued Professional, he has presented at TechEd New Zealand, Remix Australia and various Microsoft Technology Briefings as well as smaller community based groups such as the Dot Net User Groups and Code Camps.

Kirk Jackson

Kirk Jackson is a senior developer at Xero, makers of the world's easiest accounting system. He has spent his career developing server and web client solutions for small businesses, corporate and government customers.
