Current Projects Office of the Controller and Auditor General The Office of the Controller and Auditor General has gained $62,000 of Microsoft Deployment funding to pilot the use of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) within their Human Resources team. This pilot will investigate the potential for MOSS to solve their Electronic Documents and Records Management System issues in order to comply with the Public Records Act 2005. Environmental Risk Management Authority New Zealand ERMA New Zealand has succeeded in receiving a total of $92,000 in Deployment funding to deploy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) for two independent uses. The first project will deploy MOSS as a content management system to improve the web publishing process on the ERMA internet. Meanwhile, the second project will see MOSS deployed for compliance with the future Public Records Act. AgResearch Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager will be deployed by AgResearch following a successful funding application to the Microsoft Deployment Fund. This management toll will be used to assist with the installation of Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista at AgResearch. Using these two applications, AgResearch aims to reduce ongoing operational costs and improve customer service by streamlining their desktop configuration process. Ministry of Social Development The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) has been awarded $80,000 to design and implement a Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solution. The Ministry is currently implementing Windows Server 2003, Active Directory and Exchange 2007. The Microsoft Certificate Services environment will replace the current PKI environment solution used to manage Smartcards within the Ministry. The combination of Active Directory and Certificate Services provides the Ministry with a single security platform for managing both user and device connectivity. The Treasury The Treasury have been awarded $72,000 to work towards a pilot of the Microsoft Windows Vista and Office 2007 applications as a platform for improving business flexibility and managing corporate risk. As the Treasury moves toward increasing its use of tablet technology, the implementation of these Microsoft applications will aid in this flexibility and security management. Environment Canterbury
Environment Canterbury has been awarded $75,000 to develop an electronic forms (E-Forms) pilot using Microsoft InfoPath 2007, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) and Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF). Part of their new 'outside in' customer service strategy, customers could apply for the likes of resource consents over the internet paying lower fees and experiencing a faster, more transparent processing period. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) The Ministry of Transport have been successful in gaining $50,000 of Microsoft Deployment Funding to further their deployment and customisation of MOSS. This will aid the MOT in complying with the Public Records Act and will help to maximise their previous investment in this technology by 'unlocking' further functionalities. Bay of Plenty District Health Board The Bay of Plenty District Health Board has been successful in gaining $50,000 of Microsoft Deployment Funding to pilot the implementation of MOSS in order to manage the governance records element of the General Disposal Authorities (GDA). Upon completion of the pilot, the DHB are anticipating a seamless transition into records management by ensuring appropriate retention and disposal of the records and compliance with the PRA. This agency was awarded $58K to migrate its 220 Lotus Notes mailboxes to Microsoft Exchange. The project was deployed by Gen-i and has now been completed. Reserve Bank of New Zealand This agency was awarded $80K to deploy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This will give the Bank the opportunity to create an intranet that fosters collaboration, enhances communication and encourages teamwork. It will enable the staff at the Bank to share information and expertise as well as manage rapidly changing information about New Zealand’s economy. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) MFAT was awarded $100K to deploy their Common Operational Picture Crisis Management Module (COPCMM) project. This project aims to implement MOSS 2007 at the key technology on which to run their international crisis response unit, overcoming the Ministry’s current reliance on individuals and disparate systems. This project will be deployed by MCS.
