  • Microsoft New Zealand invites all eligible students to use their imagination and passion to build an app, in one of our three competition categories.

The Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s most prestigious student technology competition, bringing together student innovators from all over the world. If you have a great idea for a new app, bring it to life through Imagine Cup. Over the past 10 years, more than 1.65 million students from 190 countries have participated in the Imagine Cup.

For the last few years, the theme has been to “imagine a world where technology solves the toughest problems we face today.” For 2013, we have broadened the Imagine Cup to allow any and all ideas. That’s right, from now on there is no required theme. There’s just you – you, and your app ideas. Want to save the planet? Want to make the next great game? Just want do something cool with technology? The door is open for you at the Microsoft Imagine Cup.

Their victory has been covered prolifically across NZ press, and photos from the National Finals event are available on  SkyDrive . Team InfinityTek were selected as the NZ Champion out of  24 National Finalist Teams , themselves selected from 549 proposals from student teams across the country.

We are currently accepting app proposals for our 2014 competition! Compete individually, or in teams of up to four students! • The Process

We are running all three competition categories here in New Zealand.

Submit a proposal of what you want to build, by Monday 30th September 2013. 100 teams with the best proposals will be invited to video interviews with Microsoft New Zealand. Then 20-30 teams will be invited to develop their app by the 2014 National Finals.

We will provide your team with mentors, access to Microsoft software, and a chance to network with your fellow Kiwi competitors. You will have four months to build your software over summer, culminating in the National Finals in March/April 2014 – when all National Finalist teams will come together to showcase their software to the public, and a panel of judges.
