Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) |
Overview |
The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) is the best value and most popular licensing solution for medium and large organisations (with around 250 desktops).
With an EA, you can get access to all the latest Microsoft software, and cover it under one simple license agreement. Payments are annual across a period of three years, based on the total count of qualified desktops in your company.
| A Microsoft Enterprise Agreement requires a customer to license at least one of the following Microsoft products for every (qualifying) desktop in the company: | - Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007
- Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
- Microsoft Enterprise Client Access License Suite
- Microsoft Core Client Access Suite
- Windows Vista Enterprise Upgrade
|
| Should you wish to license more than one product from the above list there are two platform options available: | - The Enterprise Platform
- The Professional Platform
|
| Each Platform includes specific Microsoft products (as follows): | | Enterprise Platform | Professional Platform | | Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 | Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 | | Microsoft Enterprise Client Access License Suite | Microsoft Core Client Access Suite | | Windows Vista Enterprise Upgrade | Windows Vista Enterprise Upgrade |
| Important note: by choosing to license an entire Enterprise or Professional platform option, new Enterprise Agreement customers receive a license an additional 15 percent discount on top of the already discounted pricing!
|
Additional Products
There is a broad selection of software titles available as ‘additional products’ under the Enterprise Agreement.
Examples of additional products are server products such as SQL Server and Windows Server, or applications products such as Visio, Project etc. Additional products are licensed on an ‘as required’ basis with no minimum quantities (you can purchase one license if that’s all you need!).
For additional products licensed from the commencement of the 3 year EA term, payments can be spread throughout the three years in the same way that Enterprise products are.

Benefits
|
Enterprise Agreement customers enjoy the following benefits: |
- Volume pricing. Great Discounts. Built in discount for enterprise wide commitment, plus an additional discount (15%) available if you decide to license one of the platform options available.
- Predictability. A predictable, annual price per desktop for licensed Microsoft products based on the number of qualifying desktops in your organisation. Administration and budgeting for software suddenly gets easier.
- Simplified Licensing. Confidence of being licensed accurately when you purchase through an EA – simply count the number of desktop PCs once a year! For any additional desktops added to the organisation just deploy the software as you grow and then simply count your desktops once a year. Youthen pay a predetermined price for the additional software licenses on the anniversary of your agreement. This is known as a "True Up".
- Step-ups. Special licenses which allow you to migrate your software licenses to a different version i.e. step up from Office Professional to Office Enterprise. Step ups give you the flexibility to upgrade software as you company needs increase over time.
- Maximise cash flow. Annual licensing payments are spread over a three year agreement term for all products added from the start of the EA (including ‘Additional Products’). Renewal options of one year or three years are available.
- Software Assurance All licenses purchased through an EA include Software Assurance: a powerful combination of benefits that include new version rights, the Home Use Program and many other advantages, including support, tools, and training.

EA Subscription |
Enterprise Agreement Subscription works almost exactly the same way as a normal Enterprise Agreement, except you subscribe to rather than purchase Microsoft software!
In addition to the standard benefits of the Enterprise Agreement (link to), benefits of subscription are:
- Lower Annual payments than required for a New Enterprise Agreement
- Flexible pricing structure to accommodate acquisitions and divestitures
