Find Out Which E-mail Server or ISP Your Company Uses

If you aren't sure if your company uses Exchange Server or a different e-mail server, check with your IT department or watch a brief video clip that will help you determine the answer.

If you own or work for a small business with its own domain name—for example, if your e-mail address is yourname@yourcompany.com — and you're not sure who your ISP or hosting provider is, you can find out by trying the following:

  • Outlook users: Select Tools > E-mail Accounts > E-mail > View or Change Existing E-mail Accounts. The name of your ISP or hosting provider will be listed first in the box.
  • Outlook Express users: Select Tools > Mail > Properties > Servers. The name of your ISP or hosting provider will be listed in the incoming and outgoing server fields.
Microsoft Outlook > Tools > E-mail Accounts
Many times you will be able to use the E-mail Setup Wizard to identify the settings specific to your ISP or hosting provider.
If the Wizard doesn't recognize your ISP or hosting provider, you may need to visit their support Web site to obtain this information.
