How to Tell If Your Device is a Smartphone or Pocket PC Phone

Smartphones and Pocket PC phones work slightly differently. When setting up your new device or downloading add-on software, it is important to know which version of the Windows Mobile operating system is installed on your device.
  • Pocket PC Phones come with a stylus that you can use to touch the screen. Also, on Pocket PC phones, the Windows flag logo appears on the top left of the home screen.
  • Smartphones do not have a touchscreen or stylus, and, on the home screen, the Windows flag logo appears on the bottom left of the home screen. Smartphones can have either QWERTY keyboards or 12-key keypad.
