  Question
Old computer - Win2K SP4 - Outlook 2003 using .OST file with Exhange Server
2003
New computer - WinXp Pro SP2 - Outlook 2003 using .OST file w/ same server

After setting up the new computer, everything works wonderfully EXCEPT when
I compose e-mails, it doesn't auto-fill the e-mail address (To:) anymore like
it used to on the old computer. There are e-mail addresses that I need that,
unfortunately, aren't in my contact list, but have always auto-filled before.
I still have the old computer. Is there a file I can transfer that will
re-populate the auto-fill feature?

  Answer
Autocompletion information is stored in a file with an NK2 extension. You'd
need to find that file, copy it, then rename it to match the name of the NK2
file in your new installation, then use it to replace your new NK2 file.

  Also,

You may be interested in a utility that we developed to make greater utility
from your NK2 file. It can be fund at www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm
It's called Owtlook. You can download a free demo if you're interested.

Why on eart would I have to pay $52 so that the NK2 files can be opened so I
can use the autocomplete within outlook. This is absorb. I just paid $300
to upgrade last fall to office 2007 and now you're recommending me going to
another website and download that has an additional fee?

I must be misunderstanding you.....

Of course. You are completely misunderstanding.
You can easily transfer your autocompletion cache if you want to. Method has
been posted here many times and is documented by the people who wrote this
software that allows more advanced editing and recovery of NK2 data.
If you consider your NK2 an actual data source of value, plan to back it up
frequently. It will become corrupt very easily and should not be relied upon
as a data source.
Read up:
http://www.ingressor.com/autocompletetips.htm
Pay attention to the paragraph:
Migrating your NK2(s) file to a new machine

it's in the *.NK2 on the old computer.
See http://www.slipstick.com/problems/nicknamecache.asp - you'll want to get
one of the utilities to extract the addresses and add them to your Contacts.

When I click on advanced email options, it doesn't show me the field "Suggest
manes while completing To, Cc, Bcc" Why and how do I get it?

I have a Vista Machine I installed Outlook 2007. The auto fillin checkbox is
set in outlook: To: CC: BCC there was no .nk2 files- even after showing all
protected and hidden files...
I created a file called, profilename.nk2
I thought by creating this file, it would resolve the issue- it didnt.. I
made sure the name of the File was exact(case, etc)

When you are in outlook... you type in the name or pull from an address
book... it saves the names you type in..while in outlook 2007, but the moment
you get out of outlook and reenter- the name are gone..

I have removed outlook 2007 completely as well and reloaded!!
Any suggestions?

If you have enabled autocompletion and have populated a cache by sending
messages, then you will have an NK2 file. It cannot be otherwise.

Thanks for saying this.. that is what I thought...
Apparently Vista is different.. I thought maybe there was a permission issue
where the user didnt have rights to make a file.. so I created one myself
with no luck..
this might be a rare case.. but there is no file .nk2, except for the one I
created...

anyone have any ideas? I have already turned off antivirus scanning and any
type of spam blocker that might interfere with the file being created and or
updated??

Anyone have a sample file I can use and see if it works?
