  Question
I use ARIAL 11 font to send outgoing emails and use RICH TEXT.
When I reply to a received email, the text is purple. How can I change this
purple text to black?

  Answer
See if changing the "When replying & forwarding" font there: Tools menu >
Options > Mail Format > Fonts

Thank you - this solves the problem - don't know how I could have missed it
as I had previously had looked at this window a hundred times!

Not to guess at your gender but I call that phenomena "Male Pattern
Blindness" :-)

Note: I suffer from it frequently. Just ask my wife...

  Version of Outlook?

In 2007, Tools, Options, Mail format tab, Stationery and Fonts, Reply &
Forward font - choose black as the color from the drop down. I just tested
it with RTF formatted message and it does work.

no idea what is wrong then... you could try a new profile, detect and
repair, switch to the other email editor. (I tested it with word as my
editor)

You are using Word as your editor and it is over-riding the settings in
Outlook. What you need to do is go to Word>Tools>Options>General. At the
bottom of the page are 3 buttons. Select the Email options button. In the
pop-up window select the 'Personal Stationery' tab and uncheck the box for
'Pick a new color when replying or forwarding'.

Hope that helps.
