  Question
We have an old presentation that has a design template applied to it. We want
to un-apply the design template and get rid of the entire design format, not
just the color.

I Googled this and found that there should be an option for Slide Design
under the format menu where I could apply the default.pot design template
(which i presume is just blank), but I didn't have that. Am I missing
anything or is there another way around this besides copying everything to a
new presentation?
Thanks!

  Answer
  Sarah,
Don't know what version of PPT you are using, but in PPT 2002/2003 there
should be a task pane Slide design, in the available section the blank
design should be there. If you choose Format - slide design it should just
call the task pane. If you hover over the thumbnails the name of the design
will appear. In PPT 2003 slide designs are arranged according to their color
blue, green, orange, red, black, white. But I think blank design should be
at the very top, at least it is here.

Sarah, are you saying that "slide design" has disappeared from the format menu?

To put it back try Tools > customise
In the commands tab choose format
Locate the "slide design" entry in the menu to the right and drag it onto
the format tool bar

See if that works

PS If its really not there you can "copy everything to a new presentation" in
a flash if you use "insert slides from files"
