How do I set up a presentation with a transparent background? in PowerPoint General Questions

  Question
  I just tried to use the 'Transparency' slide bars in the
'Background'>>>>'Fill Effects' menu but it is always grayed out not giving me
the option to use it.

  Answer
  You can't set up a transparent background.

If you need your desktop to show through for some reason, try Chirag's free
TransparentShow add-in.: http://officeone.mvps.org/addins.html
