  Question
  Hello,

We have an external web site that uses an open-source CMS. I'm wondering if
the web content management portion of SharePoint Server 2007 is a replacement
option? Or if SharePoint Server only offers CMS functionality for SharePoint
web sites.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Mandy

MOSS 07 has CMS functionality to manage your public web site. It's still a
'sharepoint' site in the sense that it is MOSS that is running it, but it'd
be using more of the CMS tools.

That said, it's going to cost a chunk of change to not only purchase the
external site license for MOSS, but also a lot of time and effort to migrate
your current site into it.

So, unless you are really unhappy with your open source CMS, I'm not sure if
it'd be a huge benefit (if at all) to move it to Sharepoint.
