  Question
intis there any way you can lock or protect everything on a Word Document
with the exception of TEXT BOXES, so you could email a word doc file to
someone and they could enter information into the Text Boxes but not
interfere with everything else in the document?

  Answer
If you're using a form field text boxes you can password protect the document
for FORMS, the user can enter what ever they want in the text box, but not
anywhere else.

I don't know of a method that unprotects text boxes produced by the drawing
toolbar.

What I do is use Form fields from the Forms toolbar. Then when you lock the
document the user just tabs to each field to fill it out, but can't touch the
locked text. Click on VIEW, TOOLBARS, FORMS. Type some text in a document,
then click the first button on the Forms toolbar and then type some more text
after that field was inserted. Now lock your document. You'll see you can
only type in the part where there is a field code.

Hope this is helpful. Someone probably has a better solution, but that is
what we do here. Create a Fillable Form.

What you are describing is a protected form. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm and especially
the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.
