In Word 2002, in the Paragraph window, when setting the indentation for a
paragraph, the unit displayed is "ch". What is this or what does it stand
for? I can find nothing about it in help anywhere. I have units set to
display in inches, though it doesn't matter what unit I choose, it always
displays "ch" in the paragraph indent area.

Thanks so much. Of course, after I posted the question, the fact that "ch"
likely stood for character became apparent. But it's still a bother when I've
been used to setting indents by tenths of an inch instead.
The page referenced shows a workaround but it requires running a macro every
time you open a document, apparently.

The problem is attributable to a minor bug. The page shows a fix. It does
not even require you to run a macro, but to apply some code in direct mode -
once!.
