Use this page to learn how to activate your Microsoft Office 2003 Editions Trial version.
Note Trial Activation requires an internet connection.

Launch a Microsoft Office 2003 application from the Start menu.
The process to activate your trial software begins when you open an Office 2003 Editions program. In the Start menu, click All Programs, and then click Microsoft Office. Select any Microsoft Office application from the Microsoft Office menu, for example, Microsoft Office Word 2003.

Enter the Trial Product Key found on the Microsoft Product Identifier (MPI) card or the Certificate of Authenticity (COA). View a larger version of the COA image.
Depending on your computer manufacturer, the trial product key may be illustrated on either the Microsoft Product Identifier (MPI) Card or Certificate of Authenticity (COA) Image. Only one of these media was shipped with your PC containing the 25-character trial product key. If you can not locate your trial product key as part of your original media, please request a free replacement trial product key.

You must accept the EULA to use the Office 2003 Editions Trial.
Trial users must accept the terms of the Microsoft Office End User License Agreement (EULA) to use the trial software. To accept the agreement, click Accept and the Microsoft Office 2003 Activation Wizard will open.

Use the Microsoft Office 2003 Activation Wizard to active the software.
| • | Activate the 60-day trial software: Select I want to activate the software over the Internet—the trial version cannot be activated over the phone. Click Next. The Microsoft Office Setup Wizard will lead you through the activation process. When this process is complete, you will receive a notice that activation has been successful. The notice will indicate the date when the trial will expire. When using the Microsoft Office 2003 Editions Trial you will receive subsequent reminders about the trial expiration date. |
| • | Convert to trial to the full product:. Select I do not want to activate my copy of trial. Instead, I want to convert to the full product now. Click Next. You will then be taken through the conversion process from the trial software to a full product version. The conversion process requires a perpetual product key that must be purchased either at an authorized retailer or online. Learn more about how to convert to Office 2003 Editions. |
Note If the activation process is cancelled at any time by clicking Cancel or by closing the screen, or if activation is interrupted for any other reason, you will still have the opportunity to go through the activation process until you have successfully activated the trial software.

Register after activating the software.
Note Registration is optional.
If you want to receive updates and other promotional information about Microsoft products, you can register after activating the software. Registration is optional and is not tied to trial activation or required to use the software.
After the trial expires, the software goes into reduced functionality mode. Some of the limitations of reduced functionality mode include the following:
| • | You cannot create any new files. |
| • | You can view existing files but you cannot edit them. |
| • | You can print files but you cannot save them. |
Thirty days before the trial period ends, you will start receiving expiration reminder messages indicating the date that the trial will expire. At this point, you can convert to the full product in two ways:
1. | In any of the expiration reminder messages, click Convert. |
2. | In any of the Office 2003 Editions programs, in the Help menu click Activate Product. You can do this at any time during the trial period, or even after the trial has expired. |

If you choose not to convert your trial to a full product, your software will be reduced in functionality and allow only viewing and printing privileges for existing Microsoft Office files.
