Configure POP for Exchange Online

Microsoft Exchange Online now supports the POP3 protocol, so you can send and receive Exchange Online e-mail using any POP3 e-mail client. With POP3, e-mail messages are retrieved from the remote server and stored on the local POP3 client like Windows Live Hotmail or Microsoft Outlook, unless the client has been set to leave mail on the server.

If you are a Microsoft Online Services administrator, you can contact Microsoft Online Services Technical Support to request POP3 service. Provide them with the list of e-mail addresses to enable for POP3; you can specify a list of individual mailboxes or every mailbox in your organization. You can track the information of your service request on the Support tab of the Microsoft Online Services Administration Center.

Note
POP3 e-mail does not provide Free/Busy, presence, calendar, tasks, and other rich features normally associated with Exchange Online e-mail. Additionally, POP3 e-mail access cannot be enabled for Microsoft Online Services Deskless SKU accounts.
