About Passwords in the Sign In Application for Mac

The first time that you successfully sign in to the Microsoft Online Services Sign In application with your temporary password, you must change it. Afterward, you can change your password at any time by clicking Change Password on the Connect menu. Passwords can also be changed on My Company Portal or, if you are a service administrator, in the Microsoft Online Services Administration Center.
You may require support from a service administrator when:
- You try to change a password more than once during a 24-hour period. This is not allowed.
- You do not understand the requirements for creating a strong password. The password must contain at least seven characters and include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and non-alphanumeric characters.
- You have forgotten your password. Passwords cannot be retrieved, so in order for you to change your password, the service administrator must reset it in the Administration Center. After you receive a new temporary password, you can use it to sign in and create a new password.
