Group Policy Settings in the Sign In Application

Topic Last Modified: 2011-04-18

The Microsoft Online Services Sign In application can be set to follow group policies determined by your company. Using group policies creates a uniform user experience that can be optimized for the needs and environment of your workers.

To configure the Sign In application for group policies, you must set the registry keys for Sign In application options with the values you want. The Sign In application keys are located in the Windows registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\MOCHA\Preferences.

To set the registry keys, use the information in the following table.

For more information about how to deploy installation packages by using Group Policy, see How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2003.

Note
  • In addition to the check box options shown here for the ShowUpdateAlerts and the ShowConfigAlerts registry keys, these registry keys also control the availability of the related “check now” text links directly below the check boxes in the user interface. These text links are disabled if you define the registry key values as 0 or 1.
  • The option for notification of service license expiration is not exposed in the Sign In application user interface. This option is enabled by default. For more information about notification of service license expiration, see About Expiration of Subscriptions.
