Upgrading from Teamprise 3.x to Team Explorer Everywhere

How to Obtain Licenses of Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer Everywhere

On November 3, 2009, Microsoft announced that Teamprise Customers with license rights to a v3.x or higher Teamprise product and a corresponding Team Foundation Server Client Access License (CAL) at the time of the release of the Microsoft-branded Teamprise-based product will be granted a free upgrade to the Microsoft-branded product when it becomes available. On April 12, 2010 Microsoft announced that product: Visual Studio Team Explorer Everywhere. This page explains the steps that Teamprise customers must take to take advantage of this grant.

Details and Eligibility for the License Grant

  • The number of Team Explorer Everywhere licenses granted will be equal to the number of licensed seats of eligible Teamprise products, but only to the extent the customer also already owns a corresponding number of Team Foundation Server CALs (v.2005, 2008 or 2010). The eligible Teamprise products to which this offer applies are Teamprise Client Suite, Teamprise Plug-in for Eclipse, Teamprise Explorer Client, and Teamprise Command-Line Client.
  • Customers may acquire Software Assurance coverage for licenses conveyed in this grant prior to August 1st, 2010.
  • This upgrade offer will also apply to all customers who owned the rights to upgrade to v3 Teamprise products as of November 3, 2009, even if they did not exercise those upgrade rights and their maintenance agreement with Teamprise expired between November 3, 2009 and the date of the Microsoft release

How to Claim the License Grant and Receive the Software

The process to claim the grant differs depending on whether your organization has an active EA/Select/Select Plus agreement with Microsoft, or not.

For Customers with Active Enterprise Agreement, Select, or Select Plus Volume Licensing Agreements:

Your rights to use the Team Explorer Everywhere licenses under this grant will be provided via the May 2010 Microsoft Product List. The use of Team Explorer Everywhere is subject to the terms and conditions of your Volume Licensing agreement and the Microsoft Product Use Rights document.

To access the Team Explorer Everywhere bits, you may go to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) web site and download the granted licenses online.  If you don’t have access to digital downloads from MVLS or VLSC for the Team Explorer Everywhere product, please contact your reseller to purchase the disk kits.
