Silicon Valley keeps business up to speed with Microsoft Dynamics

After 21 years of being at the top of the IT retailing industry, Silicon Valley has kept abreast with all the technological advancements coming out in the market. In a recent deal with Infosoft International Solutions, Inc., a Microsoft Certified Partner for Business Solutions, Silicon Valley will be using Microsoft Dynamics GP for their back-office operations.

Microsoft Dynamics is a line of integrated, adaptable business management solutions that enables individuals and organizations to make business decisions with greater confidence. It works like familiar Microsoft software such as Microsoft Office, which means less of a learning curve, so users will be able to get the system up and running quickly. Microsoft Dynamics is built to work easily with existing systems a company has already implemented.

With 15 branches and three more opening in the next three months, Silicon Valley needed a system that will help them track all the inventories, stocks and financials of their existing stores. “Competition is tough in the IT retailing business and timely inventory and sales reports are crucial to keep up with the fast pace of the industry, or better yet, to stay on top of your game,” said Joel L. Pe, President and Chief Executive Officer, Silicon Valley Group of Companies.

Having the ability to generate timely reports will allow the company to respond faster to the market. The new system will allow Silicon Valley to monitor inventories and stocks of their 15 branches from their head office even if these stocks are located in disparate storage facilities.

“Microsoft Dynamics will help improve our operations. This back-office system will help us capture the trends in the market, such as identifying best-selling products, branches in need of in-store promos and more,” added Pe.

The company recognizes the value of using Microsoft products in their back-office because they are a Microsoft reseller and that majority of their people are already well adept to using the software. “Given the training that we got from Infosoft, our people will be able to work faster. This will reduce our operating costs and allow us to lower our margins, which would a\then allow us to pass on the savings we are generating to our customers.”

Currently, the company has around 200 employees in all the 15 branches. Of this 200, 60 are working in the head office. Silicon Valley has grown to a group of companies with subsidiaries such as CompuServe, S1 Technologies, Inc., Silicon Junior, Power Tips Knowledge and Business Center, Nokia (Podium) and Canon d’ Zone.

Microsoft Dynamics will help ensure that each branch of Silicon Valley has just the right mix of products to prevent revenue losses. Notebook models and other technological gadgets lose their value in just a few months, because of newer models that are constantly coming out. With an updated inventory report, Silicon Valley will be able to address the different business issues faced by each branch.

“Microsoft Dynamics will deliver features that will enable our customers, especially our resellers to grow their business further. It is a highly customizable business solution that will adapt to Silicon Valley’s needs as well as to the need of their particular markets,” said Lyn Reyes, Partner Engagement Manager, Microsoft Philippines.

Microsoft Dynamics is designed to meet the specific business management needs of project, service, and distribution-driven organizations. It is ideal for small and midsize companies that need to integrate with other systems and serve customers better.

The determination of Silicon Valley’s management team to keep its business up to speed with the fast-paced industry it belongs to, coupled with the right tools and resources needed to for the company’s goal of further expansion will help maintain its foothold in the IT retailing sector.
