Make sure you're reselling genuine Microsoft software
It is important to acquire Microsoft software products from a Microsoft Authorized Distributor. Microsoft has developed lists of authorized distributors to help eliminate the risk of acquiring non-genuine software from unauthorized distributors:
 |
U.S. Authorized Distributors |
 |
OEM Authorized Distributors |
If you are not sure about the status of a certain distributor, Microsoft recommends that you contact the software publisher directly. A good rule of thumb is if a quoted price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Know your licensing options
As a reseller, it is important to understand the licensing options, requirements and agreement specifications for all software license types to ensure that you and your customers are fully informed and in compliance with the law.

For resellers that build PC systems, the OEM System Builder Program provides a range of special OEM resources-including OEM beta and evaluation products, technical training and support. Register at the OEM System Builder site, or call (800) 325-1233.
