MLDC will hold the I Microsoft Workshop on Speech Technology - Building bridges between industry and academia, in May 2, 2007, Microsoft Auditorium

We are very glad to announce the first Microsoft Workshop on Speech Technology held in Microsoft Portugal, Taguspark, Porto Salvo, in the forthcoming 2nd May 2007, organized by MLDC. Reflecting the increasing interest and solid activities in speech synthesis and voice recognition of Portuguese Language, it is our pleasure to welcome both university and industry communities. Our program includes 20 minute presentations and demos on various fields of speech technology, not only developed in MLDC, but also in the Academic Institutes and in joint projects between Microsoft and the Academia. Therefore, we have invited some prestigious Portuguese researchers, such as Carlos Teixeira (University of Lisbon), Luís Caldas de Oliveira (INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon), António Teixeira (University of Aveiro) and Maria João Barros (Lisbon Polytechnic Institute). A CD of Abstracts and Power Point Presentations and Demos will be also available. We expect that this will be the first of many Microsoft Workshops in this field. Miguel Sales Dias, the Director of MLDC will open the Workshop activities and the Closing Session will be chaired by Nuno Duarte, General Manager of Microsoft Portugal.
