Dr. Panke joined the Microsoft Board as a nonexecutive director on Nov. 11, 2003. He also serves on the board of directors of UBS AG, Switzerland and the supervisory board of Bayer AG.

Dr. Panke has been with BMW Bayerische Motoren Werke AG since 1982 in a variety of positions and, from May 2002 through August 2006, served as Chairman of the Board of Management.

From 1999 to 2002, he served as Member of the Board of Management for Finance. From 1996 to 1999, Dr. Panke was Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources and Information Technology. In his role as Chairman and CEO of BMW (US) Holding Corp. from 1993 to 1996 he was responsible for the company's North American activities.
