Jean-Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International, outlines how Microsoft's major investments in Europe this week underscore the company's commitment to realizing individual opportunity and unlocking entrepreneurial talent. Microsoft has announced the company will award €1.5 million in cash grants to 17 European NGOs who help youth gain workforce skills, as well as the launch of a new AppCampus program in partnership with Nokia and the University of Aalto in Finland. Microsoft and Nokia will each invest up to €9 million in the latter program over the next three years to support innovation and growth among mobile startups.

Microsoft is today announcing it is awarding 17 European nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) with €1.5 million in cash grants to support youth with the development of essential workforce skills, and a total of €170 million in software donations to NGOs and nonprofit organizations across Europe this year. This latest investment comes as Europe marks the beginning of e-Skills Week. Through the grants, Microsoft is reinforcing national employability and workforce development programs designed to give youths access to technology and training to develop the IT skills they need to be prepared for today's job market. The software donations are part of a long-term effort by Microsoft to help organizations use technology to improve their operations and increase productivity. Microsoft today announced the judges who will oversee the final round of its new creative storytelling contest – The Microsoft Advertising Story Awards (MSAs). The judges form an illustrious panel of advertising executives from around the world, chosen for their industry expertise and deep understanding of storytelling. They will judge the final heat of the competition by assessing the entries from more than 50 local winners – two (brand and non profit) from each of the markets in which the competition is running. Microsoft: Cloud Computing to Create Millions of Jobs

Microsoft Corp. today published commissioned research from analyst firm IDC indicating that cloud computing will create nearly 14 million new jobs globally by 2015 – including over two million in Europe, Middle East and Africa. IDC's research predicts revenues from cloud innovation could reach $1.1 trillion per year by 2015, which, combined with cloud efficiencies, will drive significant organizational reinvestment and job growth.
