Microsoft has today opened a European Cloud & Interoperability Center (CIC) in Brussels. Located within the Microsoft Executive Briefing Center for European Innovation, Microsoft has invested 5.3m Euros into the CIC – designed to drive innovation and economic growth across Europe through business use of cloud computing. The center is set to provide a reference point on cloud computing across the region to help Europe develop as a technology leader; bringing together government representatives, researchers, small businesses and others to experience technology which will positively impact the daily lives of millions of Europeans.

Today Microsoft and T-Systems announce they have signed a major five-year deal that will allow Shell employees to work together globally online. T-Systems will provide Shell employees a customized version of the Microsoft SharePoint solution virtually, from its own data center. Microsoft Corp. today announced the appointment of Marc Roussel as vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Services, effective as of January 2011. Facing requests for more email storage, EUI avoided U.S.$345,233 in upgrades to its on-premises messaging solution by choosing a Microsoft Exchange Online cloud services solution.
