The world’s premier student technology competition, Imagine Cup is one way Microsoft Corp. is encouraging young people to apply their imagination, passion and creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world today. Now in its sixth year, Imagine Cup has grown to be a truly global competition focused on finding solutions to real-world issues, with more than 200,000 students from over 100 countries and regions in the world registering for the 2008 competition.

The Imagine Cup 2008 worldwide finals will take place in Paris, France, July 3-8, 2008. A total of 370 students representing 124 teams from 61 different countries and regions will compete in Paris. This year Microsoft is calling on young programmers, artists and technologists around the world to rise to this challenge: “Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment.” Students will bring their ideas to life in a multifaceted competition that comprises nine categories, each catering to a different technological or artistic affinity. Students’ work will reflect valuable, real-world solutions, while giving them the opportunity to compete for cash prizes totaling more than $240,000 (U.S).
