 Imagine Cup 2009 U.S. Finals: People’s Choice Award, Mobile Award and Round 1 Finalists Revealed! (13:40)
Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and Jon Roskill, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, Business & Marketing Organization, Announce the People’s Choice Award Winner — Team Aurora Borealis; the Mobile Award Winner — Team Safe Teen Driving; and the top three U.S. finalist teams advancing to Round 2 of the event — Teams MangoBunnies, MultiPoint Web and Special Child.
 In the Software Design category, Team MultiPoint Web won grand prize for their Web-based learning activities application. Team MangoBunnies and Team Special Child received first and second runner-up, respectively, for their Computer-Assisted Medication Regimen Adherence (CAMRA) and adoption assistance applications.
 The students showcase their innovations in the Software Design, Game Development and Embedded Development categories during the community showcase at the Imagine Cup U.S. Finals.

Celebrating first place, Australia won the Software Design Invitational, Singapore won the Embedded Development and Brazil won the Game Development challenge. Sound bites from finalists include Singapore, Australia, China, Belgium, South Korea, Brazil and Hungary.
In the Interface Design Challenge, the students have 24 hours to create compelling user interfaces that act as the front end to the generally non-seen software back end. Downloadable Files:

After three days of intense competition by students from around the world, the finalists in this year’s Imagine Cup, taking place in Paris, have been announced. Dubbed a “technology Olympics,” the event tasks students with a challenge, this year to “imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment.” Demonstrating the continuing trend of a new generation of software designers emerging from Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia, finalists in the Software Design category include China, Brazil, Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal and Australia. In Embedded Development, China, Ireland, Korea, Poland, Singapore and Ukraine will face off against each other. The Game Development finalists are from Belgium, Brazil and Korea. Students’ sound bites are included from Italy, Germany, South Korea, China, Egypt, Greece, Australia, Brazil and Ireland.
