Microsoft Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie during the keynote speech at MIX08 in Las Vegas, March 5, 2008.
Ozzie was joined by Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President of the .NET Developer Division, to demonstrate the latest technologies built for Microsoft's Web platform
Hard Rock Memorabilia 2.0, an interactive Web experience based on Microsoft Silverlight 2, allows users to browse through thousands of rock ‘n’ roll artifacts online. Hard Rock launched the new online experience at MIX08.
Using the new Deep Zoom feature in Silverlight 2, Web users can pan and zoom to see images up close, such as this jacket belonging to John Lennon, from the Hard Rock Memorabilia 2.0 experience.
Tools formerly available via the Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar are now built directly into Internet Explorer 8 with expanded functionality. These tools enable developers to quickly debug HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a visual environment. Developers can quickly identify and resolve issues because of the deep insight the tool provides into the Document Object Model (DOM).
The WebSlice feature enables users to monitor information they rely on as they move about the Web. With a click in the Favorites bar, users see rich WebSlice visuals, and developers establish a valuable, persistent end-user connection.
The Activity feature give users ready access to the online services they care about most from any page they visit, and developers gain an easy way to extend the reach of their online services. It’s as simple as selecting text to get started with an Activity.
