Nancy J. Anderson is Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of the Worldwide Sales Group in Microsoft's Legal and Corporate Affairs department. Based in Redmond, Wash., Anderson manages all of the legal and corporate affairs work in support of the company's worldwide sales, marketing and services organization. Her responsibilities include oversight of the legal and governmental affairs activities undertaken outside the United States, as well as the global enforcement strategies to address Internet safety, illegal spam and virus attacks, and intellectual property theft issues. Anderson also manages programmatic support for commercial transactions with customers and partners, with a focus on improving the customer experience in contracting with Microsoft. She is responsible for the work of 350 employees in more than 40 countries.

Anderson joined Microsoft in 1993 in the company's Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) headquarters in Paris, where she managed the European anti-piracy program. Anderson transferred to Redmond in 1997 to lead the anti-piracy program in North America. Her role later expanded to cover all field-based legal and corporate affairs activities in the Americas, before taking on her current responsibilities in 2002.

Before joining Microsoft, Anderson practiced civil rights and employment discrimination law in a Chicago-based law firm and held positions in financial services companies in Illinois and Milan, Italy.

Anderson graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College. She serves on the executive board as past President of the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, and is on the Board of Trustees of St. Olaf College. She and her husband reside in Seattle.
