J. Ritchie

Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Compensation and Benefits

J. Ritchie is the corporate vice president of Worldwide Compensation and Benefits at Microsoft. In this role he is responsible for compensation and benefits strategy, program design and development for the company, including heavy collaboration with the sales team to design sales incentive plans for Microsoft's field sales force. Ritchie also has responsibility for Microsoft's performance management programs.

Ritchie joined Microsoft in June 2004 as general manager of global compensation, and assumed responsibility for all of compensation, benefits and performance management in December 2005. He has more than 20 years of Human Resources experience, primarily focused in the compensation, benefits and systems disciplines.

Ritchie is an active member of The Conference Board and is a member of the Conference Board's Executive Compensation Council, comprised of 25 Fortune 100 firms in the US and worldwide. He is a charter member of the Global High Tech Compensation and Benefits Roundtable and is a member of World at Work.

Prior to Microsoft, Ritchie was the Global Director, Executive Compensation and Variable Rewards for Nokia based out of Helsinki, Finland. He was also the head of compensation and benefits for Frito-Lay International, a division of PepsiCo, where he oversaw domestic compensation and corporate compensation programs. Additionally, Ritchie has held positions at Washington Mutual, Aetna, and other financial organizations.

A native of Little Rock, Ark., Ritchie holds an MBA from Oklahoma State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas.
