Updated: May 22, 2009 Klaus Holse Andersen was named area vice president of Western Europe and Microsoft corporate vice president in May 2009. In this role, Andersen is responsible for overseeing sales, management and operations across 14 countries in the region. Previously, he held the role of corporate vice president of Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) sales and operations and general manager for Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen, Microsoft's largest development centre in Europe. Andersen joined Microsoft in 2001 as the general manager for Microsoft Denmark. He was promoted to the position of EMEA vice president for Northern Europe in April 2003 and took on new responsibilities in November 2004 as EMEA vice president of MBS. In April 2005, Andersen took the position of vice president for the Small and Midmarket Solutions & Partner (SMS&P) Group. Before joining Microsoft, Andersen was the chief executive officer of Internet Ventures Scandinavia, one of Denmark's most successful venture companies. Before that, he was CEO of LIC Energy (today Energy Solutions), a Danish software company selling products and services to the oil and gas pipeline industry. Andersen also spent 12 years at Oracle Corp, five of which in the US, rising to the position of senior vice president for education. Andersen has a master's degree in computer science and a bachelor's degree in business. He is presently active on the boards of a number of smaller IT companies and industry associations in Denmark.
