Mark Walker is a Distinguished Engineer in the SharePoint Platform team. He is currently leads the development team working on the next set of improvements for Windows SharePoint Services. He started at Microsoft in 1990 as an engineer on Word for DOS. Over the next 10 years he contributed to the core architecture of many releases of Word. He was the development manager for the Word component of Office XP. In 2003, he took on the role of development manager for Windows SharePoint Services working on the recently released 2007 version. Since that transition, Mark has been focused on extending the SharePoint platform to enable collaborative web applications to be easily built, deployed and operated. Mark studied Computer Science at Brigham Young University while developing educational software at IBM. He currently lives in Redmond, WA with his wife and three children.
