Amir Netz is a Distinguished Engineer and lead Architect of the Microsoft Business Intelligence offerings. He is focused on the democratization of BI through end-user self-service enablement, using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and SQL Server. Netz holds over 40 patents. His latest work has centered on new in-memory data engines that allow improved performance and flexibility for data analysis and reporting. Netz joined Microsoft in 1997 when the company acquired Panorama Software, where he served as VP of R&D. Netz has held roles as the Development Lead, Development Manager and Product Unit Manager for Analysis Services in SQL Server. After the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Netz assumed an Architect role working on the broad domains of Data Warehousing and BI, where he led Microsoft’s investments into Self Service BI and In Memory BI engines. Netz holds a bachelors degree from Tel Aviv University School of Engineering, and a master’ss degree from the Recanati Business School in Tel Aviv University.
