Amit MitalCorporate Vice President, Unlimited Potential Group, Startup Business Accelerator Updated: June 30, 2009 As corporate vice president of the Unlimited Potential Group and Startup Business Accelerator at Microsoft Corp., Amit Mital leads the company’s efforts to build new businesses and develop scalable breakthrough technologies and business platforms that are intended to create both a better livelihood for hundreds of millions of customers and deliver sustainable long-term business growth for Microsoft. Mital’s team is part of the Advanced Strategies and Research group led by Craig Mundie. Mital works collaboratively across the company’s core groups, including Windows, Office and Mobile Communications, as well as key field and segment organizations. His diverse background spans categories including technical leadership, field and customer engagement, technology development, and acquisition management. During his 15 years with Microsoft, Mital has shipped 11 products in a leadership role. Before assuming his current position, Mital was the general manager for Microsoft’s Live Mesh and Developer Platform organization. Before that, he was the general manager for Office Live Meeting, where he led the design, development and delivery of webconferencing technology. He also started and led the BizTalk Server product group for four years. Mital holds more than 28 U.S. and international patents, as well as a master’s degree in engineering from Dartmouth College. He is an avid telemark and alpine skier and enjoys travel, kayaking and photography.
