Corporate Vice President, Corporate Communications

Frank Shaw joined Microsoft in 2009 as corporate vice president of Corporate Communications. In this role, Shaw is responsible for defining and managing Microsoft's communications strategies worldwide, including planning and execution, public affairs, media and industry analyst relations, executive communications, employee communications and global agency management.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Shaw was president of Microsoft Account Worldwide at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, where he held key responsibilities for all global PR, communications and influence efforts.

Prior to this role, Shaw led the Microsoft account's platforms team, where he was responsible for all PR and evangelism related to Windows, Windows Server and developer tools. In 2001, Shaw helped launch Windows XP in one of the most-covered product PR events of the year. In addition to his product work, he served as one of the leads on the Microsoft corporate team and worked closely with the Microsoft division responsible for customer and partner relationships.

Before joining Waggener Edstrom, Shaw spent two years as vice president of Insync Communications, managing that agency's Microsoft work, before it merged with Waggener Edstrom Worldwide in 1998. Shaw has also managed public relations for Knoll & Company Inc. and Gelman & Gray Communications, where he serviced accounts such as McDonald's Corp., Walt Disney Co., Willamette Industries Inc. and Paramount Pictures.

Shaw served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years as a public affairs officer and is a graduate of the Department of Defense Information School. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.
