Jeanne SheldonCorporate Vice President, Office Authoring Applications, Microsoft Business Division Updated: October 6, 2006 As corporate vice president of Office Authoring Applications for the Microsoft Business Division, Jeanne Sheldon leads the product development teams for Microsoft Office Word, Office OneNote, Office Publisher and Microsoft Works. These applications are a central part of the Microsoft Office system, supporting the information worker with collaborative authoring, note-taking and publishing capabilities. Sheldon joined Microsoft in 1989 as a software test manager for Microsoft Word. Her subsequent role was general manager of Microsoft's Sustaining Engineering Services where maintenance and continuous improvement of the Office in-market products were a main focus. Sheldon led the team that integrated Office updates with Microsoft Update, managed customer programs such as the Technology Adoption Program (TAP) and technical betas for Office 2003 and the 2007 Office system, and led the Microsoft Office Y2K preparedness effort. Before coming to Microsoft, she served as a section manager in software quality assurance for Software Publishing Corp. Sheldon's passion for achieving quality in software engineering is evident in products that are an obvious choice for business and home productivity tasks. Women in Technology International recognized her career accomplishments, determination and dedication, and showcased her during Women in Technology Month in June 1996. Her successes reach beyond her career as she is an active participant in Microsoft recruiting and in scholarship programs for minorities and women. Sheldon holds a bachelor of arts in history and physical science from San Jose State University (SJSU) and did graduate work in history of science and urban planning at SJSU and University of California, Berkeley. She resides with her husband, Marvin, and her son. Outside work, she enjoys photography and hiking in the Cascade Mountains.
