Terry Crowley is a Technical Fellow and is currently Director of Development for Microsoft Office. Previously, he was the Group Development Manager for Office Authoring Services (Word/OneNote/Publisher/Text Services), and before that he was the FrontPage development manager for the development of FP 2003, FP 2002 and FP 2000. Crowley was the development lead for the FrontPage HTML editor for all versions of FrontPage before that (except FP 1.0). Throughout this period, he continued to be primary architect and developer for the FrontPage editor. Crowley joined Microsoft as part of the Vermeer (FrontPage) acquisition. At Banyan Systems/Beyond Inc. He worked as lead for the Mac/Unix versions of BeyondMail. Crowley also developed the SMTP and POP implementations used for the Mac/Unix versions and the Windows client, and the rich text editor that was originally used for Mac and UNIX and later also used for Windows. While at BBN Labs, Crowley was a research scientist, principal architect and developer for products including BBN/Slate, a multimedia e-mail and document system and MMConf, a shared workspace conferencing system. As part of these projects, Crowley designed and built multimedia e-mail systems, a word processor, spreadsheet editor, graphics editor, image editor, font design tool, user interface toolkits, computer-controlled video systems and real-time conferencing systems.
