Since joining Microsoft in 1986, Technical Fellow Darryl Rubin has played a key role in shaping the company's Internet strategy and the object and distributed networking architectures. He has also been instrumental in developing Microsoft's vision of Information At Your Fingertips. Most recently, Rubin has made significant contributions to Microsoft's vision and design for unified communications and presence services. Previously, as VP Applications Strategy, Rubin guided cross-application architectural efforts such as OLE; as Director of Network Development, he was responsible for all development efforts in the Network Business unit, including Microsoft LAN Manger and SQL Server. Before coming to Microsoft, Rubin worked for ROLM Corporation and SRI International. He has served as the technical editor of "Al Expert Magazine" and has written many articles on computer languages and artificial intelligence, many of which appeared in "Computer Language Magazine". Rubin holds a B.S. in biology from Stanford University.
