As senior vice president of the Online Services & Windows Business Group, Bill Veghte has revenue responsibility for Microsoft’s Windows and online businesses. He leads the business strategy, sales and marketing across Windows, Windows Live, MSN and Search. Additionally, he has shared responsibility for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) sales.
Since joining Microsoft in 1990, Veghte has taken on a series of roles that demand a strong combination of technical depth, business vision and execution. Veghte has driven a variety of Microsoft’s technology and product efforts — from moving perceptions of open source and building a scalable business out of Microsoft’s embedded and appliance offerings, to managing the development and marketing of Windows Server 2003 and Small Business Server 2003 line of products.
As head of Microsoft North America, Veghte led the region to an 18 percent increase in overall customer and partner satisfaction and grew the business by over US$2 billion in top-line revenue in three years. Most recently, Veghte was corporate vice president of Windows client where his commitment to creative and innovative end user marketing was exemplified in partnerships such as Microsoft’s alliance with (Product) RED.
Veghte’s passion extends into the community where he serves on several boards including nPower (www.nPower.org) which is dedicated to helping non-profits use technology to serve their communities. Veghte lives in Seattle with his wife and two sons and is an avid outdoorsman who loves hiking and skiing.
