In an effort to broaden PC protection and help ensure a positive Windows experience, Microsoft Corp. announced plans to offer a new core anti-malware solution in the second half of 2009 that will help protect consumers from threats including viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans. This new solution will be offered at no charge to consumers. As part of this move to a core anti-malware offering, Microsoft also announced it will discontinue retail sales of its Windows Live OneCare subscription service, effective June 30, 2009.
