At Microsoft Tech•Ed North America 2009, Microsoft Corp. is providing customers with guidance on the next release of Microsoft SQL Server — Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (formerly code-named “Kilimanjaro”) — which will empower end users to make better decisions through self-service business intelligence. As an incremental release, SQL Server 2008 R2 will now also include Master Data Services, which helps customers ensure consistency and control in the maintenance and application use of data. Microsoft is also announcing new technology for low-latency complex event processing, which enables organizations to gain insights from streaming information. This technology will be available in calendar year 2010.
